Not any XP at all? Can you at least interrupt the boot loader and try to select safe mode or whatever? I'd expect it to die later when the memory manager initializes.
Any chance either stick provides parity? I'm doubting any emachines would pass it on but hey... What's the complete BIOS report for the RAM?
