I wanted to let you all know how this ended up. The driver's insurance ended up covering all my hospital and doctor bills and paid for my new bike. The insurance company says I don't get anything for injuries since New York insurance regulations say the threshhold for that is that there has to be broken bones. All I ended up with was scrapes and bruises.
I bought a new Trek 1200 bike that I have ridden about 500 miles in the last three weeks. It's not the best bike, but it seems like a pretty decent bike that I'm pretty happy with it, and in the range I expected the insurance would cover. It's a little better than the bike I had.
