Do I have to pay for it? Does A usenet "client" work like a P2P client? Even google doesnt provide an understandable defenition of what a newsgroup is.
A few links woiuld help though.

Well, you're going to need a newsreader. I have used XNews for far too many years.
http://www.onlythebestfreeware.com/p...program_id=104 There are plenty other readers, so download a few (most all of them are free anyway) and find the one that makes the most sense to you.
Is it free? Depends. For instance, with Comcrap cable, you will get 2G downloads every month. If this is not enough, or if you dont have Comc-asst cable, you can get connected for under $20 per month.
Try Giganews

or Usenet monster at

There are tons of places like those two out there. I'll try to dig up a rating that I found last year that pits cost against speed. You'll also want to look for retention, which is the length of time articles tay on the servers. Moer retention = more complete servers. This is especially useful if you are trying to download movies or really huge articles. Usenet used to be nothing but pictures and text. Now people post movies, mp3, sounds, and the standard discussions.
I'll dig around here for some mroe info for ya.
