Depends entirely on the drivers and the sound card they're made for. Creative tends to be fairly easy to remove, and they're the majority of the marketshare right now..
Sometimes, you'll have to remove specific DLLs to do it, as well. If you mean removal so that you can install new ones, then you should be fine with the Add/Remove of Creative stuff. If you need it completely gone, then you'll need to put in more work..
