Eh? The engine is based off of a C5R engine, but that's a C6 chassis. Compare :

I suspect maybe you're confusing chassis and drivetrain? If so, the drivetrain used was again C5R, which came out of one of these :
It's a 427 ci that is very,
very loosely based on an LS-1 (for the imperically impaired, 427 ci is about 7L) and makes a stock 600 hp and 495 lb/ft of torque. While the LS7 could potentially be propelled to greater heights, it'll take the Corvette racing teams years to do so. Lingenfelter is using the best engine available to him.
Also, I want one of those. Who needs some exotic Italian when you can have one of these in your driveway?
