Am I patriot? No. I think that the beliefs and standard the U.S. was based upon were good, but that they were not followed through with and the people in charge allowed too many of their own personal views to guide them when it came to social laws. Would I die to defend this country itself? No. Would I die fighting for this country in order to protect my friends and family? I wouldn't like to, but I'd take the risk and I'd prefer to make a whole lot of the other guys die for their country first.
Patriotism is a love of one's country and what it stands for. Is it dead? No, it's just that now many people are more socially able to display a non-patriotic view point and express displeasure with the government if they feel it is doing something wrong. Way back when, it was considered socially unacceptable to not support the government, especially in a time of war.
