This is what i was thinking when I bought one for my GF. I figure you need to have a hand down there pumping the thing in and out and around anyways, or at least to hold it in place. So I guess if she's holding it and you're controlling the speed then I understand need the remote, but otherwise I say in the base is easier... just my 2 cents.
