hp monitor, help!
hey guys, let me start of and say 'thank you' for even looking at this post. i am leaving the country in precisely 16 hours, and i need some help.
i wiped my computer to leave with my niece while away. i re-installed windows, but my dell dimension 2400 doesnt seem to be recognizing any new hardware.
for example, i have an hp mx90 monitor. this is a very nice 19" monitor, but the computer only gives me the default windows option of 640x840, and if i stretch it to 1024x768 it switches from 16 pixcels to 8 bit, bla!! i downloaded the drivers for my monitor from the hp.com website and installed them. the install directions tell me to go to the display properties, then the 'advanced' button, then the monitor tab and then to click the properties button. but the button is muted and doesnt give me an option of installing a new monitor.
i have also tried installing the monitor through my 'control panel' but nothing seems to be working. eek! i am so pissed i could scream...
any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
and has anyone ever noticed that on every large computer-manufacturer website one can find everything except the support button, it's like they're hiding it. then when you call the support they tell you to go to the website to cut techie costs, psh...!
