Well when kids are in highschool using these terms (I assume most adults don't...), they certainly wouldn't deign to actually ASK someone else what it means, for that would hold a horrific embarassment worse than death and now my life is over, everyone will laugh at me, and yadda yadda...
So everyone sort of guessed a general idea of what they thought it was, and most people tacitly agree with each other.
