Well - I did it.
Only the slightest bit of nausea. They had to intubate me which means that now my throat feels like they ran a brillo pad up and down it. The CO2 that they pumped me full of is what did a real number on me. My hips, legs, back and somewhat my shoulders too just throbbed from about 3:00 yesterday until nearly midnight last night. Between that and cramping I was miserable. Even with the 800mg of Ibuprophen, 700mg Tylenol, and 10 mg of codine that they told me to take I was writhing in pain for a time and couldn't sleep or lie still. Now they just feel bruised.
I have no spotting as they expected and the bandages still look pristine. I will be able to remove them this afternoon and actually shower. The incisions themselves are not very tender at all. I can even lie on them without pain. Quick twisting motions seem to be all that irritate them.
They found two hernias that they were unable to fix immediately. They suggest I get them repaired next week or so. My restrictions for the two sugeries will overlap then and I won't be recovering for a long all together then. This is good news in a way though. It confirms for me (as for my mother as well) that I needed to do this. Another pregnancy would likely have torn those hernias even greater. 3 hernias in three different places within 9 months shows that membranes are weak. Who knows what another pregnancy would have done to me.
I am exhausted but so far I have had no regrets.
