I have not ridden one, but I heard that the Tierne Rides board is very much like snowboarding as well. Both the freeboard and the T-rides board are cheaper than the carveboard, but if you want the smoothest, most mellow, layed back board, you can't beat the carveboard. The Freeboard has urothane (sp?) wheels and the carveboard has 8in inflatable tires w/spring loaded trucks = smoothest ride in the world.

I have a friend that has a tierney board. He has convinced himself that he likes it but there are so many things that he just can't do that you would normally be able to do on a longboard. He has trouble pumping (so it's not that good for transportation) and it took him forever to get the balls to go down a hill because it seems really hard to ride. I think this board could be good in the right situation or if you just have money to burn (though there are so many other things that you could buy with that money that, in my opinion, would be worth it).
*EDIT*
oh yeah, and after about four months of riding he had to buy a new wheel because his started being eaten away by the road. It also started making a rattleing noise around the same time.
