Not much impact here in California, up roughly 5-8 cents since Saturday. But, as someone else alluded to, we have the west coast refineries close by.
I read an article which stated that Internet rumors have helped fuel the run on gas in the south, such as a rumor about State Troopers closing all gas stations at a certain time. I think the lines only help drive up the crazy demand and are actually inflating the prices more than the should be.
EDIT: I guess I didn't pay as much attention today to this prices, I checked one of the gas price websites, and the average here in Orange County is up to $2.88, from $2.81 yesterday and $2.75 last week. The national average is $2.86, and I can tell you that I can not remember the national average being even within 30 cents of the California averages. With the heavier California gas taxes and generally higher cost for the cleaner gasolines we use here, you can say California now may have some of the cheapest gas in the country. Little consolation though, in light of the events of the last few days.
