You'll probably have a language lab at school. Use it.
I've found flash cards work well for memorizing vocabulary.
Pronunciation can be hard, especially if you don't know a native speaker. I'd suggest either Pimsleur, and the Rosetta Stone, both are great products (but both are expensive)
Ask your professor if you can record the lesson, then use that to practice.
