I use masking tape, paper, and/or frisket
I cut out flower shapes from frisket and stuck them on the (white) mailbox. Then I painted blue paint over it*, allowed to to dry somewhat, then peeled off the frisket. Ta DA! White flowers on a blue mailbox. Then I sprayed a coat of clear over everything, just to smooth it out.
Create flames with masking tape and paper (or a stencil). No need to screw around with cutting out patterns in frisket.
*super top-secret step for SiN's eyes only - - - actually, after I stuck on the frisket flowers I painted a light coat of WHITE over them. Why? Because if I fucked up (and I always fuck up) and left some little places for the paint to seep under the frisket, those little holes would be filled by white paint. The white then dries and prevents to blue paint (applied next) from seeping in and wrecking the nice clean lines of my white flowers.
