Eat some really old meat, or eggs and turn in to work with salmonella poisoning.
Then take some time off to show your boss what the place would be like without you and negotiate your raise from the hospital.
Alternatively, you could always tell him to his face that you want more money. In my experience, employers always need to be reminded when it's pay-review time.
