People like to bash AIM, but every AIM clone I've tried that is ad-free seems to be lacking essential features that AIM has. Some you can't send IM's with the "Enter" key. Some you can't move past the side of the screen so you can X it out fast. Some don't let you minimize IMs and the app, just one or the other. All of them have something blatantly annoying. I'll stick with AIM with its ads until I find a clone that does it just as well. Maybe the Google IM will be the one.

I agree totally. People bash AIM a lot, but it's got some solid features (in-message image transfer) that, as you said, other clients lack.
Google Talk is so-so. It's a good attempt to combine VOIP and IM, but we all must realize it's stil a beta. It has some good features, like the way it handles the actual message windows. Krycheck taught me that by pulling one window completely over another, they can stack. You can do a lot of sweet docking and resizing crap.
