You need to go visit Microsoft's Knowledgebase and TechNet. Those are your most valuable resources when dealing with MS issues, especially STOP errors.

About the checksum error, I doubt that would be ram. I would be thinking more along the lines of CMOS/BIOS chip errors somehow if they're doing it just after turning the machine on. It could also be from MD5 checksums that all the packages on the cd have to verify upon install that they're the correct package.
