After you formatted, did you install the games in the same order? In other words, are the games that crash always in the same place on the hard drive? You may have a corrupt sector or two. You might need to fdisk it, or it might not be fixable.
Also... have you updated DirectX? Don't know if this would make a difference.
Oh, another thing... are the games on the same hard drive as the OS? I've had issues with certain programs not running correctly when they're on a separate hard drive. Try installing them to your main drive. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck.
