Aye -- I hoped to make that distinction -- critical thinking does NOT mean you have to perpetually argue with everyone under the sun.

There is a finite balance between being a know-it-all and actually knowing-it-all. If you suspect someone is not telling the truth, or they are simply ignorant of the facts -- you don't have to correct them. Just do your research, study their claim, and make a rational conclusion. They might've been right! Even if they are, you've just now added another section to your ever-growing knowledge base.
