Don't think I could have said it better (although, I didn't find any parts of the LotR movies to be boring either).
Anyway, I'm bored of hearing people complain about the "bad" plot in this movie. Frankly, it was excellent. If you want to be clued in as to parts of why, check out the following articles, they're the most comprehensive I've seen so far:

As for the Architect and the Merovingian being verbose - it's pretty clearly intentional in my opinion. Both are arrogant and like to APPEAR intelligent and grandios.
