A friend of mine has owned two Mark VIIs and I had its cousin (Thunderbird Turbo Coupe), so I've encountered plenty of odd electrical problems!

1. Does the cruise control work? It's fairly common for the clock spring to break, which kills the airbag and usually (but not always) the steering wheel-mounted cruise buttons. In the mean time I wouldn't sweat it too much, those cars weigh nearly 4000 pounds!

2. Does it give any error messages in addition to the beeps? There's a fairly common problem involving a ground wire that corrodes and causes an intermittent connection to the fuel sending unit. Sometimes this causes the Tripminder to get screwy and think you're out of gas. Check out this page: http://www.bwdautomotive.com/datastr...eam/page4.html

3. Yep, check your fuses. Also the contacts in the buttons that turn those displays on/off tend to get corroded over time and you have to press them like 20+ times to wear off the gunk, you might give that a shot too.

4. Make sure that the lights are sealed up so that no water can get inside. If there's any water or rust inside, put some clear silicone around the seams.
