Futon mattresses smash down. No matter if you buy the expensive, really nice one. Eventually, they get bumpy and lumpy and awful. I used to have bruises on my hips. I personally have a huge king all to myself with a big piece of 7" industrial foam on top. You never even hit the mattress. I really think that foam makes all the difference, no matter what mattress you end up with. Mine was in a garage sale for $40, in 1998. Oh my. I may need a new bed. But, it works. I've been told it's like "sleeping in the clouds" and I've slept 9 in it before.
