CD-ROM drives have a sound cord that goes from the CD-ROM to the soundcard on your computer. I'm betting that the DVD-ROM has a cord as well. It probably plugs into the back of the CD-ROM and goes straight to your soundcard or onboard sound on the motherboard. If you don't have this cord plugged in, there's no way for the computer to play the sound from the DVD-ROM. If the cord is the same as a CD-ROM cord, it's long and skinny with a rectangular end on each side. Look for a female connection on your soundcard or onboard sound chip to plug it into.

Again, this is just guessing since I've never owned a DVD-ROM drive. Good luck!
