Your at a loss man. I have the same problem with the RD-RAM. But using DDR RAM for the RD-RAM and using PC2700 instead of PC100 won't work any way you put it. All of them have different pin layouts thus different connections into the computer.
The reason why RD-RAM and SD-RAM (PC100) is so expensive is because they are rarely used anymore. The only idea I could think of would be if you try PC133 which should be a tad less then PC100 but for the RD-RAM, your crap out of luck. Sorry
