I really don't think this is as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Honestly, there are more important things to worry about in the world than this. While I (who wears flip-flops every damn day of her life) would probably not wear flip-flops to the White House (I have several nice pairs of slides for such occasions), I see no harm in it. I honestly fail to see how someone's choice in footwear shows disrespect. That's ridiculous.
