I saw it and loved it, but you have to go realizing that this is a different look from the Gene Wilder one.

This is darker yes and IMHO slower at the beginning. They try very hard to make Charlie seem very Oliver Twistish and it at times seemed forced.

The story is relatively the same with a few major differences but overall,this movie allows us, the viewer to know more about Willie Wonka, which the first never covered.
It also allows us to know more about the Oompa Loompas and we get to see how Willie met and took them into his charge.

In fact one can argue who truly is in control of the factory, the Oompa Loompas or Willie.

Overall, this was a great movie for all children and children at heart.

One of Depp's best performances ever.

A definate 9.25/10, again the only "bad" part was how slow the beginning was (but it does build up and it's interesting to see how the grandfather fit into it all), the original was slow at the beginning also.

My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
