Voice Mail Etiquette
Why do people talk and talk and talk during a voice mail and then leave their phone number real fast at the end?
You know:
Hello, blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah anyway my number is onetwothreefourfivesixseveneightninezero OK give me a call bye.
Thanks, asshole, now I have to go all the way back to the beginning and listen to your idiotic message just so I can get your phone number. And my service doesn't have fast forward so I'm forced to listen to you drone on and on about some ignorant problem you have. Oh how I envy you people with modern phone systems.
ADVICE:
Speak slowly and clearly. Start out your message with your name and phone number and the time you called. Then a BRIEF message. Then close by saying "thank you" and "here's my name and number again."
And a "please" interjected in there wouldn't hurt either.
