On my last day in town I had the evening to myself... I was just going to eat in the hotel restaurant when I realized that I wasn't going to be back in Budapest for another year and decided to venture forth. Some friend's had mentioned a nice restaurant in the area of the Cathedral not far from where I was staying. I found the restaurant but was drawn just up the street to the towering Cathedral. It was huge. The camera doesn't do it justtice but take note that the building on the left is 9 stories and that there are people on the steps...

There were two restaurants on the square and I chose Leroy Cafe for two reasons: the lights on the walls (there were a flower pattern with a light bulb in the middle) and the fact that Leroy reminded me of The Baroque Trillogy which I just finished reading earlier this year.

The food was pretty good. I started with a gin and tonic and moved onto a grilled shrimp salad which was followed by a glass of Cabernet and a Sesame crusted Turkey topped with arugala, goat cheese and carmalized pears (pictured below). The was followed by a forgettable dessert and a glass of Tokaij (Hungarian dessert wine that is just amazing).

A three out of five for the meal but it was very nice to be able to sit outside and eat (at that point it was still hit or miss with the weather back home).
