I've seen Samsung monitors next to LG and Iiyama, and have to say that Samsung generally had the best picture quality. I don't know how they compare to Hyundai, though.
I had some bad experience with dead pixels; I used to work in a shop selling Samsung TFTs for the first time, and 50% of the shipment had dead pixels. The spokesman claimed it was bad luck, and I believe him. But I would encourage to check for dead pixel policies; you never know when you need it.
As for the VGA/DVI question: All TFTs I've seen so far had either VGA or VGA *and* DVI. I doubt these particular TFTs would be different.
