On the days I am at work, TFP and chat are always open, from 8-5. I just can't help myself, it helps to make the work day go faster when you have people to talk with.
On the days I am home, my computer is always on, and I get up and down to do various chores and play with the kids. I feel disconnected if I turn it off.
Most nights I am online in the living room, on my laptop, from roughly 8 - 11, sometimes longer. If it is too hot in the living room, I take my laptop into the bedroom.
