Any one of the supremes could have retired since 2000 to give Bush a nominee opportunity. That it took five years to see a retirement speaks well for the court IMO. Did you know that O'Connor's husband has Alziemer's. (butchered spelling) I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for a non-political retirement.
