I think it really depends... if I'm listening to something like Metallica or Rage Against the Machine, I'm not going to listen to it quietly. It's not meant to be heard that way-you're supposed to be able to feel the music, not just hear it. It gets me pumped up more. Then again, I'm usually listening to it while I'm on a highway, so not many other people can hear it. I suppose it might disturb people a little when I get off the highway, but i figure A. I don't have it up that loud, and B. I'll only be within hearing range of them for under a minute (I don't have any sort of rediculous subs in my car, or anything like that). If its nighttime, I'll generally turn it down, if I'm in a residential area. Besides, I figure they'll all be laughing at me when I'm deaf and they can still hear. But then again, I won't be able to hear them laughing at me, so I guess it works out in the end .
