I never leave a piercing open like most people do. I use a product called synth-skin. Its essentially a liquid skin sealant thats often used by long distance wilderness runners to patch themselves up. It allows you to heal without exposing you to any bacteria. After the piercing I spray it in, run the jewelry thru, and let it dry. It allows it to heal up safely and still let me do whatever I want without too much fear of the consequences.
I'm not completely hardcore, hehe, but I'm not worried about that at all. The odds of me getting some kind of bloodborne from kissing is pretty small.
