I blagged a TFT with a broken backlight, unfortunetly the PCBs were wired such that I couldn't get them out of the way of the screen. The connector types are called Flexible Printed Circuit (FPCs) and I even went to the lengths of contacting some companies to get some extensions made. They could tell I was amateur though and they never replied
Anyway, there is a brisk trade in broken TFTs as if they are repairable (like a bust backlight) then they have a high resale value. So peeps don't like to let them go for free.
