Thanks diver, I was fairly pleased with the pics overall. Just frustrated with the lack of control I had. When you are used to carrying two camera bodies and a bag full of lenses around, not to mention having finger type control of shutter speed and aperature, a point-and-shoot gets real frustrating real fast.
Don't count out the opportunity to go over there either. Believe it or not it was cheap once I got there. I don't know what airfare would have been for Joe Citizen as the company always puts us in Business Class to fly internationally but my boss tells you his wife goes from San Francisco to Beijing all the time (her parents live in Beijing) and it is very reasonable. Once you get there life is a lot cheaper than in the states or Europe. I stayed in a 4 star hotel in Beijing for right a $100 a night that would have been nearly twice that in any major city in the US. We hired a private car and driver for two days in Beijing and it cost us less than my rental car in San Jose.
Thanks to the rest of you for the kind comments. They are appreciated.
And you are right Amonkie, you just can't take a bad pic of some things. A great subject makes a photographer's job so much easier and these were all great subjects. I keep telling my wife that too...
