i've been on local and national television too many times to count. however, they were all very brief and few featured me in any meaningful way.
- when i was six i signed up for "mutton-bustin". it's a competition where little kids ride sheep for a rodeo event instead of a bucking bronco. mainly done for the "aww.... isn't that cute?" factor" anyway, i did it, and was on the tv broadcast.
- i was captain of my highschool football team, and our squad was one of the best in a football-mad state. several of our games were televised and i was usually tapped by my coach to provide soundbites to the local reporters for the evening news.
- my father is a basketball coach at a fairly high level. he is on local market tv all over the country as a matter of course, national sometimes too. after a big win, i'm sometimes one of those crazy yahoos in the background while they're trying to interview the players/coaches.
- i'm a magnet for home-runs and foul balls that get televised on ESPN and elsewhere. i'd say i've been on ESPN (just as a nobody in the background) 10-15 times. me and my dad went to a Tokyo Swallows game last summer and made it onto the local Japanese broadcast... it never fails.

If you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
