From what I've read about the song, it's about a father giving a son some land, and then losing said land in a card game, but not wanting to ask for it back, he burns it. He doesn't know that the son's wife is in the house. The son decided to kill everyone involved, including his father. The part in bold is the father talking to his son after the son has killed everyone else involved.
