This might not hit the spot - but I remember a book 'diet for a small planet' (or similar title, a vege book) discussed complementary proteins lots.
One that I did remember was that peanut butter is meant to have complimentary proteins to wholemeal bread. To be honest, most of that stuff is partly discredited now I think - and I'm no longer a vegie.
But.... I still have my peanut butter with wholemeal. Partly out of superstition and partly out of taste.
