Heh heh heh - I don't know squat about most things.. but thanks...

Ihave never used them myself -- because when travelling to Europe and to australia - itwas just easier to use my ATM card - that way I got the daily exchange rate.. made doing expenses when I got home more difficult, but in the long run it was easier.

Traveller's checks -- and the card is just a 00's version of a travellers check can be a bit of a pain in the neck, as some smaller establishments -ie that fabulous cheap place you've found for dinner -- don't always take them... Most hotels will cash them but they require ID

I havent been in the mid-east (Saudi Arabia) for about 8 years or so, even then I don't recall having a problem using an ATM - anywhere I go I am uncomfortable carrying large amounts of cash -- I'd rather get it when i need it... in the currency of the country I am in.

I would guess - and AMEX would probably be able to answer this better - that unless a place took credit cards -- they are not going to take the Traveller's Check card...
