I'd seriously try with a laptop or other PC first.
1: They're a damned pain to move. Literally.
2: Shipping fees from ebay!!!!!
3: it's cheaper to buy a new gfx card than a monitor.
Try moving the video cable to the top of the desk when you do it and away from any other power supplies.
Does it have the auto set button on the front. Tried that?
