I'm guessing the horzontal or high voltage circuits have a problem.
These circuits work the hardest. The hot weather may have helped cause the problem.
Did the 'air holes' get covered by a magazine or something. Big no-no.
You did good to turn off the monitor. Do not run it unattended or more damage may result. At this point, I would suppect the Horz. output device or Vert. output device.
They may be a transistor or an IC.
Or you could be lucky.
