OK -- A question about farming for those that have done it a bit more than me...
Does the drop rate go down as you kill more things? The reason I ask is that I need Spider's Silk to make the Robes of Arcana, which I can sell for ~5G on my server (which is why I already have 42G as a level 28
). Problem is, the stuff is a bitch to get. So I go farm the mobs I know to drop it. However, it seems that invariably, I get one off the first few mobs I kill, but nothing else for a *long* time. As in, I counted last night and killed 94 of these spiders before the second one dropped. And its a 5% drop rate according to Thottbot. Went again today, and the same thing happened... I got one on the fifth one I killed, and gave up after killing 40+ more of them.
The only way I can think to explain this is Blizzard trying to prevent this by lowering the drop rate by either 1) Limiting the number you get in a certain period of time or 2) Lowering the drop rate on things you have killed more than once, which is everything when you are farming things that respawn quickly.
Any thoughts? This is quite annoying.
