Long article, if the point was to prove affirmative action has had a negative effect on LAPD, she needs to offer something other than 3 black officers that were found to have been dirty. Really poor argument void of any real statistics other than a "scholarly" study by John Lott (who also works for TAE) that concludes "quotas requiring more black and minority police officers clearly increase crime rates". Huh? No numbers, nothing to back it up other than stories of rappers smoking crack and becoming policeman. At the end of the story she eventually allows that crime has actually dropped in LA County 18%, but credits that solely to the white, Republican Police Chief Bill Bratton!
In fact, violent crime has dropped steadily in all the major cities since 1992
for reasons that have nothing to do with Chief Bratton's ability to hold the hand of the black community.
It's ironic that the article you chose to prove that racism is no longer a force in society thereby eliminating the need for affirmative action is filled with stereotypes and statements like "standards for physical capability, intellectual capacity, and personal character were lowered". Sadly, this is the organization that has George W.'s ear (Cheney's wife sits on the board, Ken Lay used to) and is pushing policy in Iraq. Cultural and racial intolerance isn't exactly what we need over there right now...
As an aside - hoping that anybody would be OK with being called a racist is a horrible sentiment, Matthew330. I hope you re-think that.
