That one hit us on this side of the pond too.. It was Labor Day weekend, a long holiday weekend. I was working for a major news magazine at the time and the magazine was put to bed a day early because of the press schedules. I was home on a saturday night for the first time in years... and was getting ready to go out. when I saw the news report flashin that Diana had been in a serious car accident and it didn't look good. This was gonna be big news. I called the editor and wanted to know if we were redoing the cover? Within 15 minutes, I had gotten 5 phone calls to come back in, and was on my way back to the office. By the time I reached the office, she was dead. 24 hours later the magazine was completely redone, and it was beautiful issue. Less than a week later a special, ads free issue came out. And someone actually did yell Stop the Presses... (I w as only in IT, but as sick as it sounds, the excitement in the air was almost touchable.. those are the kind of stories that journalists live for)
