The ill effects of affirmative action

From a recent thread in general discussion:

""It is these elected black leaders, the civil-rights coalitions – they're the ones that keep causing all this racial divide, they're the ones that keep calling attention to all this," said Limbaugh. "They're the ones that keep stirring this pot. They're the ones who don't want there to be any colorblind society. They're the ones who keep being agitated and trying to agitate others over all this, and now it's descended into the meaningless element of the names of hurricanes."

This is the result of the practical implications of affirmative action, as i see it. The ill effects of affirmative action are innumerable, but untouchable by the media (or those opposed to it in general). Individual fear of being labeled a racist by any opposition to affirmative action (realistic or not - because granted there is a population opposed to the idea who are motived strictly by their own ignorance, whom those who are ligitamately concerned with the results would not want to be associated with), has trivialized the debate.

I would suggest that there is a large population of affirmative-action supporters who are completely content in this dynamic. Just as those who have concerns (i.e. - are against it), are silenced by the stereotypes associated with that position, there are supporters who won't address the ill effects for the same reason. How can a real discussion about this issue ever occur with this dynamic attached to it.

Anyway,
here's a concrete example that will see little to no media attention:

EDIT: "i tried an tried an tried, it will only cut and paste one paragraph at a time. It's a long article. Click on the link to see it, and enlighten me if you will (i need your help Host), on how to easily get someting with that length copied in here."

Untill supporters of affirmative action will recognize and address the negative impact it causes i'll never be for it. I just wish more people weren't so afraid of being called racist. Perhaps then legislation would be proposed that would cause 'real' change and not just political pandering ultimately causing nothing more than animosity.
