Hell, Alien Vs. Predator was PG-13.

I'm sure most people growing up even snuck in a good horror movie or two (Exorcist?) and they grew up fine
I'm guessing you don't have children, Stompy. Episode III is NOT "just Star Wars", Lucas himself even warned that this is the darkest and most intense of the films and that parents should re-consider just letting their young children watch the film the way they watched the other five.

Catdaddy, as a parent, you know your kids and what scares them and what doesn't. Personally, I don't think my 4 year old son will be watching this for a year or so, but who knows. Maybe for Christmas when it's on DVD, maybe not. I think the Parent's Guide is a pretty good bit of info to go by, check it out.

I would imagine that yes, most 11 year olds will not see much in this movie that would damage them much, or that they haven't seen before (with the exception of Anakin Flambé) but that's easy to say when you aren't talking about your 11 year old. So take your own advice, watch it yourself first so you know what to expect and when to give her that suggested Parental Guidance, then take her to see it.
