I think that scene was the only reason the movie was rated R, and that it could have been deleted w/o losing much of anything. It's not like they actually showed anything, anyway.
I mean, do you
really need to see them fucking to get the idea that they're passionate about each other? I don't. They'd settled that fairly early in the movie with spoken lines, IMHO.
