I'd have to agree with this. It's something that is pretty much in your past (like you said, scars, not cuts), so why should your family bother you about it? And if they do, you could just ask them: "Don't you have any scars, too?"
If you don't make a big deal of them, neither will anyone else. You're probably just a little self conscious about them, which I understand, but don't cover them up for your family members.
