Martian, it's not just DEI and Jr. putting blame on Johnson in this instance. Several drivers have come forward, after replays of the event ad nauseum, to say it was, along with Jr's. bump-drafting, Johnson's doing. It's not his first time. Tony Stewart's been slammed by Johnson previously. On shows devoted to NASCAR this past week, the consensus seems to be that Johnson, for whatever reason, has been getting progressively more nervy, more aggressive and and maybe even a bit more careless, when he's in a position not to.
One of the comments made by a particular reporter suggested that every sport needs a bad guy and with Harvick running cleaner races, Stewart being actually quite pleasant (he took anger management courses at the behest of Home Depot), the title may have fallen on Johnson's shoulders, either by his choice or happenstance.
NASCAR has more regulations than probably any other sport-they have to for safety-but perhaps they have pushed the issue too far, causing these drivers to use tactics that make their time on the track not just the cooperation of a team and its machine, but those of cunning, underhandedness and a win-at-all-costs attitude. Time will tell.
