My two boys and one of their friends and I went into a local Chili's a few months ago. We've been to this Chili's a few times in the past and never a problem. But we should have been suspicious from what we were overhearing as we were seated. The family at the table behind us were complaining that the waitress had not been near enough to get the check and they were getting impatient. Finally, the dad stands up and puts his coat on, so the waitress finally shows up and gives him the check; he gives her cash and she runs off, returns a couple minutes later as the family is now all standing with their coats on, she gives him change. He says "you gave me $23 too much change" to which the waitress giggles and says OK I'm confused and he gives back the excess to her. Finally a few minutes later she comes to our table, we order. A few of us ordered cups of chili, which finally show up kinda late. As she's juggling the chili bowls, she drops one bowl on the middle of the table and spills chili all over the table and the coloring book pages that the kids got when we came in. My one boy is disappointed since he kinda liked the picture he had made. She quickly scoops up the spilled chili and bowl and runs off. Two of the other bowls were still very cold inside, not sort of warm, cold which were sent back via another waitress, microwaved and came back OK. Finally after way too long, she brings back the replacement chili bowl. I start eating it and find a piece of crayon in the bowl, clearly from what she scooped off the table along with the crayons the kids were playing with. After a much longer than usual wait, and they were not that crowded, two of the dinners show up, my Tbone steak dinner and another dinner, but not the sandwich my son ordered. We tell the waitress who says "Oh, the sandwich is still being made it takes longer" ...???sandwich takes longer than a dinner platters?
Anyway, my kids still joke about this experience calling her the "waitress from hell" but I hate to give hell such a bad rap.
